“November 9, 2013 Pittsburgh benefit gala honors musical genius Steals Brothers" by Kathy Brocks
November 9, 2013 Benefit concert at the August Wilson Center, sponsored by PNC Bank and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield starring Eddie Holman, Johnny Angel and the Halos, Damarra Chanel Underwood and many others special guest stars. This event is a celebration of 40 years of music by the Steals Brothers, community leaders making a difference and local youth. Awards given out prior to the concert. Concert proceeds will go to the Urban Impact Foundation and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Eddie Holman will perform "Could It Be I’m Falling In Love,” written by brothers Melvin and Mervin Steals, made popular by the Spinners and many other artist who sang the song. Eddie Holman is widely known for the 1970’s hit “Hey they lonely girl” and many other very popular songs form the 1960’s. Eddie’s songs have been a staple in American homes for more than 40 years and is constantly touching the heart and ears of younger generations.
Johnny Angel and the Halos also from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area have been performing since the 1960’s and are still performing hits like Love the one you’re made famous by the Isley Brothers; Ease on down the road made super famous by Michael Jackson and Diana Ross in the Wizard of Oz movie, Little Drummer Boy and many other songs.
Another Pittsburgh musical soulster is Damarra Chanel Underwood, 21 years, who sings a song written by Melvin Steals. Damarra is one of the many performers gracing the stage with these great performers to raise money for the Urban Impact Foundation and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
