National: Mayor Bloomberg finds more shelter for NYC Storm Sandy residents

Yesterday New York City Mayor Bloomberg announced via a press release that New York City government is partnering with Airbnb to provide free shelter for residents without shelter due to  Hurricane Storm Sandy.

Airbnb is a private company that helps homeowners, hotels and resorts to list their available space online at no cost to Hurricane Sandy victims or those listing.  Airbnb will offer customer service and insurance for host and other services.  Airbnb is providing free shelter for Hurricane Sandy victims.

It is estimated that over 100,000 people are still without a safe clean place to lay their heads, shower or eat.  There are 395 Airbnb members who listed their space for New Yorkers.  There are private rooms listed in Brooklyn, Astoria, on Williamsburg, 38th street, Chinatown, Queens Brooklyn, Harlem, Kipps Bay, Metropolitan are of NYC, West and East Village, Morningside Heights, Alphabet City, Crown Heights, Soho, Lower East side, etc.  Anyone wanting to list their available space for Hurricane Sandy victims or in need of a place to sleep contact Airbnb and read Mayor Bloomberg’s press release.
