The best way to get more fans, new fan and people to show up for your performances is to make your events super easy to find. The first step is to create a website. You can do this for Free via Wix.com . The is the one I, Kathy Brocks of LUTG RADIO, use so if there are others then by all means use them after doing your research of the company to make sure they intend on sticking around for a while. Next create a “show or event” page that lets everyone know about your next upcoming show name, location, cost and how to purchase tickets or whether its free.
Then, tell readers, googlers, social media darlings a little something about you and your style of music. Tell people where they can buy your music via digital download or CD. You also, want to push your SWAG or Artist t-shirts and other apparel. Each time you do a show upload a 30 second or 2 minute clip of the show to engage people or post it to your social media pages. Engage fans by asking questions on social media. Ask them about their favorite song, vacation, inspiration and share yours. Do not tell it all, just chat briefly for a few minutes daily or weekly.
Remember, to not seek to find fault. Fans sometimes get overly excited when meeting a talented artist such as yourself. Just remind them, success is a daily process of choices and we are all just people working on making a living at what we love the most, music and performing. Let fans know you love them like a sister or brother. Do not encourage romance. Some fans got enough fantasy going on in their own heads already. Also, pray for your fans daily. It is a blessing to their lives. Its feels good to know someone is praying for you. Keep this in mind as you go about grinding and working hard to achieve your dreams of reaching the masses with the gospel through music and artistic performances. Included are screenshots of artists that do a good job helping fans to attend their next performance.
I play music and performances on air for free currently. The main requirement is be a Christian artist and provide clean material. Tae Spears is an example of why LUTG RADIO offers free airplay for artists. Check out 16 Bars,
Nikeya Young performing Saturday July 16th at Joy’s Summer Outdoor festival in Lansing, Illinois, 2025 East 175th at 3:15 p.m.-3:30 p.m, free admission.
October 22, 2015 Monument of Faith Church and the Henton family announced Apostle Richard D. Henton died. Although we will miss Apostle Henton, rejoice. Rejoice because those that are in Christ Jesus live an eternity with Christ Jesus after their body passes away. While we are given 120 years as a maximum, not every body lasts that long. But to know that Jesus welcomed Apostle Henton home into heaven is a great time to praise and thank God for the time that this world got to experience Apostle Henton. Now is the time to carry on the love actions of Apostle Henton by loving God with all our hearts, mind, soul, strength and by taking the gospel into all the world. This is the video link of Apostle Richard Henton and his son John Henton talking about reaching out to the communities served.
Tears are for a short season. Apostle Henton’s legacy is to be remembered as a man who loved and trusted Jesus; a man who spoke God’s Word with fervor. God lends us his breath for a short time and expects us to use it to glorify Him. Its more than safe to say Apostle Henton glorified God.
John Henton and the Henton family thanked everyone for their prayers and asked for continued prayers, ” We, the Henton family, would like to thank everyone who has shown support to us in this time of transitional celebration. We ask that you continue to send prayers our way and that you allow us a small amount of time to make all arrangements final. We will keep everyone informed on dates and schedules to the Home-going of this Mighty Man Of God. Know that we love you all very much and that we appreciate every one of you. Keep checking on this page for updates.”
Apostle Henton’s funeral is October 31, 2015 at 10 a.m., House of Hope, 752 E. 114th, Chicago, Illinois. This is also where Pastor Meeks, Salem Baptist church, holds services. The viewing of Apostle Henton is Friday October 30, 2015, 10 a.m to 7 p.m at the Monument of Faith Church, 2750 West Columbus Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60652. The service will begin promptly at 7 p.m.
ACAW Media solicited an opinion from a movie goer after she had seen the movie War Room and this is what she had to say:
“The movie “War Room” opened in theaters today and it is a “Devine” intervention. I laughed. I cried. It jumps immediately into the action of the lives of a married couple. There’s something for the faithful, unfaithful, men, women young and old. The movie addresses real life issues. It had to have been based on someone’s life (mine perhaps). It transitions well and remains entertaining throughout the movie. War Room was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it. Believers and non-believers are in for a treat.
Now we know the faith movies with good characters is possible. If people can not see themselves in the movie you know its a flop regardless of numbers. But so far War Room is a movie people can relate.
This is another letter sent to the church in an attempt to get some help for myself regarding the abuse by the ushers. I was not told what actions were taken against the person that assaulted me. Here is the private letter I sent to the leadership of the church. This letter has not been altered.
“Sept 2, 2008
To: Pastor Barnett
From: Kathy Brocks
Date of Incident: 08/31/2008
Time of Incident: 2:20pm to 2:30pm (after 11:15am Service)
Incident: Anthony Wilks slapped me, Kathy Brocks
Pastor Barnett was praying for the people in the prayer line
I saw my sister and her spouse over by the stag where the Choir sits
Anthony Wilks was walking towards me so I said, “Hello. Hey, it looks like you’re getting taller!”
Then Anthony Wilks slapped me. I felt myself fading out. So I said,
“That’s disrespectful. Why did you slap me?”
Anthony Wilks said, “That’s how I greet people.”
This was Anthony’s apology or explanation.
I was embarrassed, angry and could do anything other than remove myself from the situation. It was robotic.
Oddly without thinking I completed my greeting by hugging Anthony Wilks as a blessing or something. I did not realize how angry I was at the time cause when I saw Glenda Cousins; I jumped up 3 times 3-5 ft high.
I didn’t say anything while speaking with my sister. I was really ticked off and did not want to show my anger verbally because I have a tendency to use swear words when things like that happen.
I left out and went to gallery to buy a cd. The line was long and I was anxious and angry. I did not know what to do cause my experience is that men side with men especially in the Church. The woman is always wrong because she got angry, allowed it to happen or should have showed more respect, etc.
I wandered about and re-entering the Sanctuary started searching for the older man with the grey hair who was the Head of the Men’s Ministry and the Usher Ministry.
I did not see him so I approached the first Usher I saw, he said he was the head of the Ushers, dark skinned male about 5 ft 9in short hair cut, navy blue suit. I asked him, “Do you slap people, women in the face as a greeting?” He said, “No.” So I proceeded to tell him of the incident between Anthony Wilks and myself.
The Head of the Ushers said I should speak with the Head of the Ministry because Anthony is a Minister. So I told, Tevin, the head of the Ministry, (unsure of full name)
5ft 7 inches tall, short hair cut, light skinned and wore a tan suit, of the incident. Tevin took my name and phone number and said he will get the information to Pastor Barnett.
My brother in-law came over and asked me if I was ok. I said yes and went to talk with my sister again and my sister in-law. I left and went to my mother’s house.
Still angry because Anthony Wilks has no Love of Christ and no respect for me as a person and was not sure if anyone was really going to help I started doing the following:
I left a message on the voicemail for the Prayer Line
2) I emailed Pastor Winston and Sister Veronica Winston via the BWM.org website 08/31/2008
3) Spoke with my Aunt, a third party-impartial-she talked down my anger
4) 09/02/2008 I called and left a message on the voicemail of Pastor Barnett
5) 09/02/2008 I left a message on the voicemail for Sister Veronica Winston cause she is a woman and understands no woman enjoys being hit by anyone
6) I called back and left a message with Pastor Barnett’s secretary
7) I talked with the company Nurse. My blood pressure was rising and I was still angry because I know I did not do anything to deserve being hit. ”
My overall goal is to get reform in the church. The church is not a safe place to go and fellowship. Men are taking out their frustrations on the women. The women are just accepting whatever the men do because the men are the leaders. It is not ok to hit period. End of story. It is not ok to invade a woman’s personal space or to put your hands on a woman. When a woman asks you to stop touching her then it should be stopped. Hitting a woman is never ok. Read more on incident of 06/22/2014.
This is a copy of the email I sent to the pastors via the church website. I had a few typos but the letter is clear when you read it entirely.
AUGUST 31, 2008
DEAR PASTOR BILL WINSTON AND SISTER VERONICA WINSTON,
TIME: AFTER 11:15 SERVICE
INCIDENT: MALE MINISTER SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE-LEFT CHEEK
WHO: ANTHONY WILKINS/WILKS (5FT 2IN TALL) MINISTER IN TRAINING
ISSUE: HE SAID THAT IS NORMAL TO GREET PEOPLE WITH A SLAP. I DID NOT GREET HIM IN THAT WAY. I SAID “HELLO AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE GETTING TALLER”, AND THEN HE SLAPPED ME.
MY ISSUE: ABUSE MY (s/b “BY”) MEN. THE MEMORIES ARE STILL WITH ME AND MY CONCERN IS THAT I MIGHT ALLOW SOMEONE OF HIS CHARACTER TO CAUSE ME TO FALL BACK INTO FIGHTING VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY. I DO NOT FIGHT TO RESTRAIN. I FIGHT TO SURVIVE. DUE TO MY MEDICAL CONDITION I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO FIGHT TO SURVIVE. (I bruise easy fighting could end the quality of life I enjoy if not end my life as told by my doctors. edited 06/23/2014)
ANTHONY NEEDS HELP WITH HIS ANGER ISSUES. THIS IS NOT THE 1ST ANTHONY HAS RAISED HIS HAND TO A FEMALE. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME HE HAS HIT ME IN THE FACE. PREVIOUSLY IT WOULD BE HARD SLAPS TO THE SHOULDERS. I HAVE NO INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH ANTHONY. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS MAN OF GOD CAN NOT CONTROL HIMSELF AND WHY THE CHURCH ALLOWS HIM TO OPERATE IN A CAPACITY WHERE HE DEALS WITH THE PUBLIC.
WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURRED PASTOR BARNETT WAS PRAYING AND ANYTHING OTHER THAN QUIETLY TELLING ANTHONY SLAPPING ME WAS OUT OF LINE WOULD HAVE INTERRUPTED ANOTHER PERSON’S HEALING OR DELIVERANCE.
THIS EVENT HAS DISTURBED ME GREATLY AND CAUSES MY ANGER TO RETURN. THIS IS THE ONE PLACE I ENJOY COMING TO WEEKLY. I CAN ONLY COME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAYS. PASTOR, HIS ACTIONS DO NOT LOOK LIKE YOU OR JESUS. I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE. YOU NEED TO GET ANTHONY SOME HELP. PUT HIM IN COUNSELING OR SOME DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION PLACE. I DO NOT WANT TO BE FORCED TO DEFEND MYSELF. I BLACK-OUT WHEN HIT BY MEN AND SOMETIMES CAN NOT REMEMBER WHAT I HAVE DONE. THIS IS BAD AND I KNOW IT. SO I AM ASKING YOU TO GET HIM HELP SO I DO NOT HAVE TO DEFEND MYSELF.
So, this is one letter I sent trying to get help because of the abusive nature of the men in the church. The goal here is to have the Pastors retrain or get help with training their ushers. There is no reason for violent behavior in or out of church by the body of Christ. Read more on incident of 06/22/2014.

Today Sunday June 22, 2014 I woke to a beautiful morning and what I thought would be a great day of worship. You see I had decided to go to church. I normally watch service via the internet for economic reasons. I am definitely waiting for cash and provisions to manifest itself abundantly in my life.
So, I got dressed. I wore an orange ladies work t-shirt and brown long short pants that go below the knee. It’s actually a few inches from the ankles. You can almost call them pants. Anyway, I get there around 11:30 am and enter through the doors and the folks at the front seemed a little weird. But I ignored it. I made a b-line for the bathroom. I travel all the way from the south side of Chicago and I had frozen pineapple and water along the way so you know my bladder was full.
So, I do the do and wash the palms and flanges and make my way into the sanctuary. I hear and see people getting baptized. I do not like to walk around when people are getting baptized cause its a special moment. For me it’s as important as making the prayer confession of faith. If you recall when Jesus got baptized all stood and watch silently as God spoke over him. So, I figure why not do the same.
Now, the 11:15 am service which is the third service of the day is available via the internet. The church is open to the general public. The services are recorded via video and audio from the hired media people and/or volunteers. There are no signs indicating pictures can not be taken in the sanctuary or of the worship team on stage.
However, when I took out my camera a part of the media and a member of the church to take a picture of the worship team I was told I could not take a picture. I asked why and the usher who made a b-line for me said cause Pastor Bill Winston said so. I replied, but the whole service is on the internet. So you mean to tell me I can use a phone or any device to record them via internet but I can not snap one picture? The usher said that’s right you can not take a picture, only the professionals can take a picture. I thought to myself. I have been a part of the media for several years now. I let them know I was doing a story on the worship team and still was told only professionals can take pictures. I was asked to turn off my camera. So, I turned off my camera.
Then I asked, can I look at the service via my phone and take a picture. By this time one of the ministers approached me. The minister said I can not take a picture of my cell phone internet broadcast of the service but I can view the service via my cell phone. I said ok. Then the minister asked me if I could take a gun into the church cause I said this is a public place. I thought that is odd to ask me about guns. What was he going to do shoot me. But in Illinois you can carry guns into public places with proper licensing and training. Heck the police do all the time on and off duty.
Anyway, I showed them that my camera was off and the black hard case camera cap was securely on the phone. Now, since the bag I use for the camera does not actually fit the camera. I have to work it into the bag. I either sit to do it or make sure my hands are free. Now at the time I was carrying my green rain jacket purse, camera bag, camera and cellphone. I was a bit full trying not to drop my stuff. I asked them to please move out of my personal space and all 2, 4, 6 and 8 of them refused. I tried walking away since nothing was turned on to find a seat, like I often tell my radio listeners. Just walk away rather than engage in argument.
All of the ushers followed me. Now, I am 5 feet 6 1/2 about 200 pounds but I don’t look it. Sometimes I look smaller, thinner. These men ranged from 5 foot 4 to 6 ft 4 all well over 200 pounds. I moved to the front area of the sanctuary just trying to get away from these harassing men and settled so I could enjoy the worship. But, they followed me and said it is a public place and they can invade my personal if they want to. I asked them all including the minister to please get out of my personal space. So, finally I just walked up to the area where the pastor and his family sits since the space was empty and the first obese usher about 5 foot 4 that started this whole mess says , you can’t sit here are if it were a shrine. I said I just want to worship without you in my personal space.
So, then more ushers came. Telling to take it to the side. I said I am just trying to worship. So, I said to the man in the blue tie, you lead the way and I will follow. I told him I do not want them continuing to touch me. When men are that aggressive, you never allow them to walk behind you. My parents taught me, men are not always gentlemen. My father was in law enforcement.
I walked to the side and they are still talking in my face trying to explain the no camera policy. I said I complied, just let me worship. The man in the blue tie said they would feel better if you put the camera in your bag. I said have faith I will. I said I will when I get comfortable. Like I said its hard to jumble everything and I must take care not to drop or damage my camera. I wasn’t even allowed to sit. I was trying to view the service on my phone since that was allowed. Its easier when others are taller than you. It gets hard to see over them.
The next thing I know they called the Forest Park Police to have me escorted from the building cause its their private property. The ushers, not pastor Winston. I was told they are anointed to keep order. Actually, its my property too. You see Pastor Winston said long ago that the church of Living Word Christian Center belongs to the members. I am tithing member, so basically, I was kicked out of my property cause a group of men wanted to control ‘this woman’. The funny thing is I had already complied. My rights to worship was violated, as a U.S. citizen was violated, my rights as a member of the church was violated and when I asked them to stop touching me and to please move from my personal space that was violated. I was harassed. They followed me all over the church and then embarrassed me by having me escorted from the church for complying with their wishes by the Forest Park Police department. The police officer said if I want to take pictures then start ‘my own church’. The police, the illegal enforcers of the church?
After I left. I turn the program on via my cell phone and the funny thing is then the Pastor got up front and said this is not entertainment. Then he said, sometimes we don’t love when we should just cause someone does not do everything you want.
Now, I do understand protocol. I understand order. I was an usher for several years at another church. I worked in a few areas of the church ministry. But, what is odd is that, the members of the choir make a living singing. They have record deals, sell cd’s, their services. There are tapes of the services sold. There are concerts at the church. There are offerings being taken up to pay the worship leaders.
Although worship is meant to usher or assist you with connecting with Jesus through the Holy Spirit, our comforter here on earth, where in the bible does it say to hate other Christians and to mistreat and badger women. Since when is complying not enough. This is why women do not submit. This is why the world has trouble understanding the church. The church becomes legalistic and only respects those they choose to respect instead of all as Jesus commanded in John 13:34, 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
Added note, 06/23/2014, I asked the man in the blue tie, which was an usher or minister I do not know cause he did not identify himself, to go get the pastor of the church and he refused and continued spouting the camera policy and invading my personal space.
The following are photos and videos of today. I only have video because they were so harassing I was not able to set camera function to photo only. It was still on video +photo which I used for an awards event.
Videos of the service, one from car via internet. Minister Jones said I could record the service via the internet on my cell phone with my camera but outside of the inside church sanctuary.
