The Phenomenal Performer Natalie Cole is at rest with Jesus at age 65

Natalie Cole, performer, singer, actress went home to Jesus passing on at the age of 65 on December 31, 2015 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Natalie Cole suffered from complications of an organ transplant and Hepatitis C infection. Ms. Cole believed it was due to drug abuse from 30 years prior during the 70’s and 80’s. Natalie Cole is survived by her son Robert Yancy and sisters Timolin and Casey Cole. The memory her family shares is strength. Natalie drew on her strength of her faith in life and death. Natalie is at rest with Jesus and her legacy will live on as a bright shining star. Natalie shared the same “strive” fervor of her father Nat King Cole, whose voice broke down racial barriers of 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Let’s thank God for the gift He allowed us to experience in Nat King Cole and the 65 years of blessing in the heritage of Natalie Cole. Enjoy a little piece of the joy the Cole family brought to the world in the songs “Fall in love” and “Unforgettable”, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKCyUe4syc4

Assassin’s Creed Review by Feminist Frequency

If you love video games and enjoy comparing the pros and cons, Anita from Feminist Frequency gives an interesting review of the Ubisoft’s new video game.   While the video has progressed with better modeling of women as being powerful, intelligent and not just a prop on her back to fulfill the lust of men.  The video lacks the equality of including African-American representation in the video that would show a more realistic view of the time period and a better attraction for today’s consumers.  You can read more articles and see more videos by Feminist Frequency here.

Daniel Wade and Matt Kysia performed at fall festival Chicago at Daley Center

by Kathy Brocks

The Fall Festival Chicago at the Daley Center under the Picasso was a great kick off to the first weekend in October 2015. The Fall festival is a break in the day for Chicago’s to hang out and listen to good music during the lunch time hours. Matt Kysia and Daniel Wade warmed our cold bones on this fall day.  Admittedly I had never heard of Matt Kysia or Daniel Wade.  My naivety proved to be a benefit.  I got to listen without reserve to Soulful Rock, R&B and a bit of the 80’s style rock that makes you want to jump and sing-along.  Matt Kysia’s vocals are raspy smooth and sexy.  Daniel Wade’s vocals are classic rock.  Two great performances.

Daniel Wade released four EP’s, Hyperconnector, Stronger Machines, Rising Moon Anxiety and One For The Void.  Daniel covered Amy Winehouse’s song called Valerie.  Sad song but Daniel makes the song his own.  You can hear the emotions and ironic humor conveyed in his vocals.  Nice job considering I do not listen to Amy Winehouse music.  You may have seen Daniel this summer during the Chicago summer festivals and concert venues around Chicago.like Taste of Randolph, a massive event, GMan Tavern, subterranean, the Beat Kitchen and a few more. A few of Daniel’s fans showed up to rock out. You can find Daniel’s upcoming events on SongKick.

One of Matt’s new-found fans said that Matt’s voice is one you can Step Dance to all night long.  Step Dancing is a very popular shuffle rhythm dance beloved among southerners and people in the midwest.  This is truly a compliment because serious Step Dancers are particular about their music and vocalists.  Your vocals need to be clean and smooth with some sexy kick, Matt.  The good thing about Matt is that he can move from one style of music to the next effortlessly.  Matt hails from the Motor CIty, Detroit Michigan, a great place to learn vocal rhythms.  Matt Kysia has a new demo out on his Facebook page Kysia Live.

This is a clip of Matt Kysia’s performance,

War Room Movie Review

ACAW Media solicited an opinion from a movie goer after she had seen the movie War Room and this is what she had to say:

“The movie “War Room” opened in theaters today and it is a “Devine” intervention.  I laughed. I cried.  It jumps immediately into the action of the lives of a married couple. There’s something for the faithful, unfaithful, men, women  young and old.  The movie addresses real life issues. It had to have been based on someone’s life (mine perhaps). It transitions well and remains entertaining throughout the movie. War Room was absolutely amazing.  I highly recommend it.  Believers and non-believers are in for a treat.
-Karen W.”

Now we know the faith movies with good characters is possible.  If people can not see themselves in the movie you know its a flop regardless of numbers.  But so far War Room is a movie people can relate.

The Return Review-Absolutely Amazing!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Last night was absolutely amazing.  The performance artist raised the praise at Rock da Spot, cafe of Philadelphia Church presented by Alternative.  There were 19 performers: Cedrick, Articulite, Justin aka Jay-Dawg, Eddie Sterling and Strongheart, Legacy, Street Prophet, Brit Nicole, Trinity Brothers: Conclave, Download, Trinity, Aye ‘Alex’ Sanford, Kaylen, Ms. Odeta, D.H. and the Next Level Band, Dance Troop-Taking Notes, Cell Block, Isaiah aka 7Tre, Lamar Simms and Conclave doing solo.

Markasa, the founder of the Alternative, put together this event for the purpose of drawing in souls, going outside the walls of the church to reach the lost.  Markasa’s next event will allow for open mic.  A few of my first time favorites are Aye ‘Alex’ Sanford, The tattooed Saint Tay Spears, Articulite of Hot Sauce Poetry at 1539 S. Pulaski Rd Chicago Illinois talked about protecting your heart by not giving away your “Soy Sauce”, a euphemism for not fornicating ; Cell Blok relates poetry to the streets and how God can reach you no matter where you are at; Street Prophet speaks up for the silent voices and the handsome Legacy of Legacy Musik,  Shepherd Express Best of 2013 Winner.  Legacy stepped out in boldness and went into worship.  Ladies, that is very hot.  A man who prays makes your heart flutter.  All these men and women are prayer warriors.  They love Jesus with all that got and what they got is the good news of Jesus Christ.   See one of Legacy’s You Tube video called “My Side”.
