CTA Derailment under investigation
This morning LUTG RADIO contacted the Chicago Transit Authority Media Relations department regarding the early morning CTA derailment at the O’Hare Airport terminal at 2:55 am. Ms. Lambrini Lukidis of the CTA Media Relations stated that the incident is under investigations by the CTA, Chicago Police, National Transportation and they are awaiting results. Ms. Lukidis stated the train is manually operated and is suppose to pull into the station at 1 to 2 miles per hour. Due to the accident and damage it is assumed that the train was traveling at a faster speed. Again, Ms. Lukidis is waiting for the authorities to complete a full investigation before any blame is determined. At this time operator error or equipment failure can not be decided. The accident is not related to the construction to improve the train line system for smoother passenger ride which began on Friday March 21, 2014 at 10pm running through today, Monday March 24, 2014.
